THE WAITING LIST FOR APPLICANTS WITHOUT CHILDREN IS CLOSED AT PRESENT
WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 3/4 BED PROPERTIES BUT THEY ARE NOT LIKELY TO BE AVAILABLE FOR A CONSIDERABLE TIME
Tangram is a registered Housing Co-operative. We have 40 flats or houses all on or near Bank Side Street in Harehills, Leeds. They range from studio flats through to four-bedroom family houses. We currently house around 50 tenants and their dependents.
The Co-op is fully mutual which means it is run by the tenants with support from a part-time worker. All tenants are members of the co-operative and have to be voted in at a General Meeting which happen monthly. We are run democratically, and take decisions at General Meetings on everything from the allocation of our properties to how much rent we should pay. As a tenant you enjoy the following advantages: cheap rent, a centrally heated flat or house, a repairs service, the control of being your own landlord, and a friendly and welcoming community that cares for its members.
In return for this, we expect you to be prepared to volunteer for various tasks that help the co-op (i.e. our housing community) run well. These can range from gardening, dealing with admission inquiries to overseeing maintenance of the properties and balancing the budget: see the Management Groups. As well as keeping rents down this is a great way of socialising with the other Co-op members.
We are a Registered Social Landlord regulated by the Homes & Communties Agency. This means that any vacancies are allocated on the basis of housing need.
